Falcon 9 orbited a ship with cargo to the ISS


The rocket was initially meant to take off Tuesday but was delayed for a day after engineers discovered moldy mouse food in one of the science investigations created to study the effect of microgravity on the immune system.

"The first stage did land in the water", SpaceX spokesperson John Insprucker said during a live webcast. It had 5,600 pounds, i.e. 25,00 kilograms of gear.

The Dragon space capsule that SpaceX used for the current mission was earlier used in February 20017 as part of the CCRS-10 supply mission. The Dragon capsule pulled up at the orbiting lab Saturday, three days after launching from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

"Grid fin hydraulic pump stalled, so Falcon landed just out to sea", SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said in a tweet after the missed landing. "Ships on the way to salvation Falcon", - wrote in the video Musk.

This is the first time that SpaceX has failed to land the booster on the ground. This was to be the twenty-seventh time that SpaceX had managed to successfully retrieve a first stage booster.

SpaceX has enjoyed notable success landing its Falcon 9 rocket, which enables the company to reuse the vehicle for decreased costs, among other things.

Alan Musk founded it on May 6, 2002. The agency's current schedule has SpaceX's first uncrewed demonstration flight on January 7 and the first flight with astronauts on board in June.
