Tyson Chandler Agrees To Buyout With Suns, Will Sign With Lakers

Chandler himself has a ring and an Olympic gold medal in his trophy cabinet and with 18 years of National Basketball Association experience, could leave the Phoenix Suns to join LeBron in Los Angeles. With him making a little over $13 million this season, it was only a matter of time before the two sides parted ways.

The Lakers were playing at Portland on Saturday night. Currently, starter JaVale McGee is the only true center on the roster besides third-year man Ivica Zubac. With such an inexperienced core as well, Chandler brings championship pedigree to a young locker room, something that could pay major dividends for the Lakers come playoff time.

He was the NBA Defensive Player of the Year for the 2011-12 season and played in the All-Star Game the following season.

More than anything because he is one more [player] and so we have more to choose from. "Of course, it is necessary to get Messi back as soon as possible".

Tyson Chandler is going home. He's a highly intelligent player who is very good at what he does.

The Lakers have been struggling defensively this season. Signed as part of the plan that Phoenix also would land LaMarcus Aldridge in free agency and return to contention, Chandler instead saw the Suns win a combined 69 games during his time in Phoenix, the league's lowest total.

The Lakers are also allowing their opponents to connect on 48 percent of their field-goal attempts from the floor and teams are shooting 38.3 percent from beyond the arc against them. But the urgency of the situation amid their slow start surely forced the Lakers to make a move sooner than they wanted. Tyson Chandler, 36 years old, is a valued commodity for his rare mix defensive rebounding, rim protection, and freak athleticism. If, however, the Lakers consider the position fixed with the addition of Chandler, they may regret that decision.
