Apple's new MacBook Air starts at $1,199 (£1,199, AU$1,849), which is $200 more than the old MacBook Air. It's late to the game, sure, but now that it is here and with the holiday season upon us, Apple is likely going to sell a lot of these in the coming months.
This stagnation ends today, as Apple introduced a new MacBook Air right at the start of its special event in NY.
"The new MacBook Air has a 13.3" 2560x1600 Retina Display with 50% narrower bezels than its predecessor, and a modern-looking design that has glass coverage up to the edges. The SSD storage inside the new MacBook Air is also 60% faster than the previous model, according to Apple, and has a capacity of up to 1.5 terabytes (1,500 GB).
You get two Thunderbolt 3 ports, through which you can connect a 5K display or even an eGPU if you so wish. It's got 17% less volume than the previous one, is 10% thinner at 15.6mm and Apple says it's kept the weight down to 1.2kg. The new MacBook Air has better display with bigger screen-to-body ratio and better colours in the Retina Display.
Apple has heard your cries for a MacBook Air refresh and the company has finally delivered. There is also a brand new Force Touch trackpad, giving it 20 percent larger area. So far, the 2015 MacBook Air came with outdated Intel processors.
