One man who believes that Messi and Ronaldo are not alone amongst the footballing elite is Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, with the recent World Cup victor telling AS that the forward "already sits where Messi and Cristiano are".
"Yes, I think I am now perceived in that light", said Griezmann in an interview with AS.
"Cristiano and Messi are above everyone", Forlan told Cadena Ser. "Griezmann is still not at their level". I want to be the most complete I can be. At that table, there are nice pictures I have, and I enjoy it there, but I know that I can get better'.
Interestingly, Messi and Ronaldo have claimed the last 10 Ballon d'Ors awards and are showing no signs of quitting any time soon.

Griezmann was widely expected to leave Atletico Madrid for Barcelona this summer, but revealed he had chose to stay in a short self-made documentary called "The Decision".

"I want to improve, I want to win and I want to continue like this, playing in this way". If it was for money, I would have gone to China.
However, despite of his achievements this year, Griezmann was snubbed by Federation Internationale de Football Association from its final 3-man shortlist for the best player award.
Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema have both made strong starts to the season in Ronaldo's absence but some, including Messi, have said Madrid will still be worse off without the Portuguese.
