John McCain is being laid to rest at the U.S. Naval Academy after a five-day procession that served as a final call to arms for a nation he warned could lose its civility and sense of shared goal.

25 of brain cancer at age 81, was the son and grandson of four-star admirals and a 1958 graduate of the Naval Academy.

The memorial service at Washington National Cathedral was intended as a cap to public commemorations that began Wednesday in Phoenix, in his adopted home state of Arizona.

Also expected to pay tribute to McCain, the former Arizona senator, GOP presidential nominee and prisoner of war who died August 25 from brain cancer at age 81, were David Petraeus, a retired general and former Central Intelligence Agency director, and McCain's son Jack. John McCain's service at the Washington National Cathedral, but his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, arrived Saturday to attend the service.

Bush said one of the great gifts in his life was becoming friends with his former White House rival.

Obama reminded everyone that McCain never treated people differently because of their race, their religion and their gender, never accepting the "birthers" who challenged Obama's legitimacy. "But I'm left with incredible memories".

Graham also recounted his memories of McCain during an appearance on the show. In a 2008 interview, the church's then pastor, Dan Yeary, said he discussed baptism with McCain but respected his faith tradition. Joe Lieberman, remarked that his old colleague's passing had caused Americans to reconsider the country's founding values of freedom, human rights, opportunity, democracy and equal justice.

Bush was giving his stamp of approval, and that of his audience, in advance, for any action which the American military should undertake within the United States itself, whether through intervening against Trump, as the culmination of the ongoing anti-Russia campaign by the military-intelligence apparatus, or through intervening, with or without Trump, in the event of mass struggles by the American working class that challenge American capitalism from within.

Marco Rubio Would Prefer It If Alex Jones Didn’t Touch Him
Jones and his gravelly voice mumble something about getting arrested and Rubio responded, "You're not gonna get arrested, man". After the hearing reconvened, he reportedly went back in to watch the testimonies. "There goes Rubio, the little punk".

"A few have resented that fire for that light it cast upon them, for the truth it revealed about their character, but my father never cared what they thought", the senator's daughter said in staggeringly direct and unrestrained address that would have made her father glow with pride. Meghan McCain, his daughter, held her grandmother's hand.

She added: "The America of John McCain is generous and welcoming and bold".

"The America of John McCain", she declared with a steely stare, "has no need to be made great again because America was always great".

A private memorial service at the academy's chapel followed by a procession to the burial site was to mark the farewell Sunday to a man who lived a very public life. The senator's widow, Cindy, and his children were among those who walked behind the caisson.

McCain was a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War and spent more than five years as a POW in Hanoi. "I find it contemptible that the McCain family couldn't seat them in a better, more respectable section". One woman shouted out, "God bless America!"

People in the crowd held signs that read "Senator John McCain Thanks For Serving! Godspeed" and "Rest In Peace Maverick".

The senator was buried next to his best friend from Annapolis days, Chuck Larson, who died in 2014.
