Liverpool will be hoping to get their new Premier League campaign off to a flying start, when they take on West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

"If you ask me whether it is the best squad I have ever had or whatever I don't think about that because it is not about what we have now it is about what we make of it, how often we deliver, how often we bring ourselves in a mood to fight with these Premier League teams who want to have our points".

"We do not have to play much better in the games against City - if we perform like we did past year, that would already be good".

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his players have to summon the spirit of Rocky Balboa if they are to close the gap to defending Premier League champions Manchester City.

One of Liverpool's new faces is a doubt though, as BBC Sport have revealed that midfielder Fabinho could miss out due to an illness.

Three early points, and for West Ham, a huge upset.

They've also enjoyed feasting on West Ham's defence in recent games, winning this fixture 4-1 back in February and also sticking four past the Londoners in their last two trips south.

Mane scored in the Champions League final, both legs of the semi against Roma and the 3-0 home leg of the quarter-final v Man City so he's a massive part of Liverpool's lethal front trident.

The London side have only won once in their last 45 visits to Anfield, and Liverpool will be looking to make their stadium a fortress once again this campaign after finishing last season unbeaten at home.

"The points we lost between us and City were obviously for different reasons and mostly because we did not win all the other games".

"We can improve everything: we can improve our offensive game, we can improve our defensive game".

"There are bigger problems in life than losing a Champions League final, so we all have bigger problems than losing a Champions League final".

"I came here to try to win titles. He wants to compete with the best teams in the world and he is going in the right way". "I don't know exactly how - fancy dress for the players or whatever!"

"He has done a very good job since he's been here and you can see that the people have a lot of respect for him and his work".
