"Like any big club, they need some silverware - in his first season at Old Trafford, 2016-17, Mourinho won two trophies - the League Cup and Europa League - but he won nothing last season".

"We played well in periods against a good team that invested more than us", he said.

"So it's hard for me to understand or to feel or to believe that we finished second, which I keep saying that I - and sometimes it's also hard to believe - that I won eight championships and three Premier Leagues". "The list of injured players is an important list and, after training, I will speak with that group of [World Cup] players because everybody is different, physically and mentally, to see how they feel they are and to understand how they can help or not help".

Fosu-Mensah is popular with United fans after breaking onto the scene at the same time as Marcus Rashford.

"We didn't have much money this year, that's the truth after last summer", he explained in his pre-match press conference. Valencia - he was injured in pre-season.
