"Since I came in, maybe Dejan made three or four mistakes, two of them in the Tottenham game, maybe one in a Champions League game a year ago".

Lovren, however, managed to regain Jurgen Klopp's confidence and the German coach used him in 29 Premier League matches, while the Croatian didn't miss a single game in Liverpool's way to the Champions League final. "I don't know exactly what happened before I came in", the manager told Liverpoolfc.com.

- Who has the edge in the World Cup final?

"I really didn't understand these questions, always looking back to where I made some mistakes".

Lovren joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2014 and played 43 games in all competitions last season.

"We have the chance to do something better, and hopefully we can do it on Sunday".

May hopes Trump visit will boost US-UK links
US President Donald Trump arrives in Britain on Thursday for talks with the leader of the United States' closest ally in Europe. The "Stop Trump" march will travel through central London on Friday afternoon, before ending with a rally in Trafalgar Square.

His disappointment for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and fans of the country he calls home at the moment sat alongside satisfaction in seeing Lovren reach the pinnacle of the global game.

He wrote for the Irish Independent: "I give Lovren credit for rebuilding his Liverpool career after that and there is no doubt that the arrival of Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window helped him to put in a better second half of the season, but I'm still not convinced he can relied upon every time he takes to the field". In extra time we showed that we are still able with the fatigue to play our game. "I wish we could both be in the final for that game but there is only one victor". Now with my national team we are in the final.

"Of course I'm delighted for Dejan".

Several positions remain problematic for the Reds and if they are serious about toppling current champions Manchester City next season they must ensure that the right players are added to the squad this summer.

"We beat our record from 20 years ago".
