Roma sporting director Monchi insists the impending exit of Alisson does not demonstrate a lack of ambition as the goalkeeper closes in on a world-record move to Liverpool.

Alisson is now expected to be left out of Roma's pre-season tour squad in order to complete a transfer away from the Italian capital. They'll use the money made on offloading Courtois to Real by meeting Roma's asking price, and then some.

They play the World Cup, then the Nations League, next summer is the final of the Nations League which is really insane.

Meanwhile, Liverpool were generally quite good at keeping the opposition away from their goal as they face 282 shots (103 on target), which was the second-lowest in the Premier League, behind the champions Manchester City (238; 87).

He was part of the side that suffered a 7-6 aggregate defeat to Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Roma have already lost another key player this summer after Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan left for Inter Milan, while the club sold Mohamed Salah a year ago, with the Egyptian winger going on to score 43 goals in all competitions for Liverpool.

Despite his excellent World Cup, Henderson could be sweating over his place in Klopp's starting XI this season.

Chelsea tried to land Alisson for new manager Maurizio Sarri but several factors - not least goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois' unresolved future at Stamford Bridge - meant they were second favourites. A lot will come once the other boys are back. The fact that Liverpool went back for him after a failed inquiry in January showed the interest was genuine and the Brazilian is seen as the missing piece of the jigsaw.

'Big teams, successful teams - if you don't buy it you have to build it. That is how it is.

"They shouldn't be anxious about anything like that (losing their place) because we'll need them all".

Eight of Klopp's squad from last season-plus new signing Xherdan Shaqiri-were on worldwide duty in Russian Federation over the summer. They know we need quality and they know if we win something, we will win it with 25 players'.
