Yu Suzuki then chimed in on the game's Kickstarter page, saying "To all of our backers, we are very sorry for the delay".

Yu Suzuki himself followed up with a comment, expressing his apologies and promising to use the tame to improve the quality of the game further. "We can not thank you enough for your enduring support". "Shenmue 3" is releasing on the PlayStation 4 and PC platforms.

It's unknown whether the delay was due to any one specific issue with development, although Deep Silver did receive criticism after a 2018 teaser trailer featured some characters with faces that seemed incapable of emoting.

Shenmue III is now in development for the PS4 and PC.

The delay is not something that should come as a shock to loyal fans who have been following "Shenmue 3's" development.

The latter was always a pipe dream and decades in the making, so it was understandable when it was first delayed from its initial December 2017 release date goal.

This delay just means people that have been waiting for the game have to be patient.

This is mostly for the sake of polishing the game even further. Metro: Exodus, the third installment of the popular Metro shooter franchise was also delayed.

The next - and very much long-awaited - instalment of the cult gaming franchise will finally arrive next year, publishers Deep Silver have confirmed. This time, the game is expected to be released "in 2019".
