San Diego County Voter Registration Hits Record High

Election day has arrived and voters only have hours left to cast their votes.

The number of total ballots received as of Monday morning before the election is lower as well - 495,987 compared to 527,139 in 2014.

Voters will decide whether incumbent District 1 commissioner Jose Iglesias will retain his seat, or if former school board member and Cedartown Commissioner Gary Martin will take over the job to start 2019.

Grant County Clerk Marisa Castrillo credited the decrease to efforts by the office of the New Mexico secretary of state to clean up voter rolls. No Republicans or Independents filed to run in the primary, although one unaffiliated candidate has announced plans to join the general election fray. Primary day voting will begin at 7 a.m.at all of Polk County's polling places. New Hampshire will hold a Primary Election on Tuesday September 11, 2018.
