Modi said India supports a "united, prosperous and strong" Nepal as he strongly backed Oli's vision to transform the land-locked Himalayan nation into a land- and water-linked country. He also offered prayers at the famous Pashupatinath temple, located on the banks of the Bagmati river.
"As there is the model code of conduct in Karnataka, PM Modi planned to pray at temples in Nepal instead, just to influence voters". In Gujarat also, he held a road show after voting.

Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot today kicked off a storm when he targeted PM Modi of playing the Hindu Card by visiting temples in Nepal. "They had discussed the visits, and the Prime Minister (Modi) had said you (Oli) come first", Gokhale said.
