Pakistan Prevents US Diplomat From Leaving the Country

A United States diplomat, whose vehicle hit a motorcycle in Pakistan's capital of Islamabad and killed a 22-year-old man last month, was on Sunday stopped from flying out on an American military aircraft by the Federal Investigation Agency, reported Dawn.

The source further added that the FIA officer on duty after finding out that it was Col Hall, held back his passport and sought directions from his high-ups, according to a source.

The FIA didn't allow Joseph to leave the country until the officials get orders from the federal government. "We do not discuss details of diplomatic conversations", the spokeswoman said. On Friday, the Islamabad High Court said that Hall did not have absolute immunity in the country. On Saturday, the Trump administration appeared to have won a reprieve from the more moderate elements in Pakistan who are keen to fix the damage the dispute has caused, and a C-130 military transport plane was sent from Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan to the Nur Khan Air Base in Chaklala outside Rawalpindi, to extricate Col Hall. One of the riders was dead, while the other two were critically wounded, who were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

Pakistani authorities have imposed "reciprocal" restrictions on the movement of US diplomats in the country after Washington took similar measures.

Everton face West Ham United away at the Olympic Stadium in their last Premier League fixture of the season this Sunday. When first asked about the deal, Olson told reporters in the U.S. : "I don't know what you're talking about".

On April 7, US Defence and Air Attaché Col Joseph Emanuel Hall ran a red light at Daman-i-Koh Chowk and hit a motorcycle.

A special plane, C-130, reached Noor Khan Airbase on Saturday to take along the accused diplomat, local media earlier reported, adding that the USA embassy had handed over the passport of the official to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration.

The restrictions were placed on the United States diplomats the same day Pakistani nationals working in Washington DC were ordered to stay within a 25 mile radius around the city. Washington later suspended its security assistance to Pakistan.
