A serious crash between school bus and dump truck on a New Jersey highway has left multiple people injured, according to police.

The body of the bus came completely off its chassis and was resting on its side in the highway median.

The school bus was carrying students from Paramus Middle School who were on a field trip when the crash happened around 10:30 a.m.

Mount Olive police said family members of those involved in the crash should contact Paramus Police at 201-262-3400. The undercarriage, the bus wheels still attached, lays perpendicular to the overturned bus, stretching out over multiple lanes of the highway.

All westbound lanes are closed near Exit 25.
