Indian meteorological department issues fresh thunderstorm alert after dust storm hits Delhi

On Tuesday evening, the India Meteorological Department had issued a fresh warning for heavy rains and thunderstorm to hit the region in the later part of the evening.

At least one person was killed and 13 injured in the dust storm that hit the national capital in the early hours of Wednesday.

An 18-year-old Sohail of Gokal Puri area was killed after a wall of his house collapsed on him, said media reports.

Also, four calls received were about damages to cars in the dust storm. Also, east India will also continue to see scattered thunderstorm activity on Wednesday.

"Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds are also very likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, Vidharbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Telangana, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Kerala", the IMD in an advisory said.

Strong winds, accompanied by dust, lashed the city while bringing a sudden decline in the temperature on Wednesday, uprooting trees and disrupting power supply. The prediction further says that Himachal Pradesh is the line for more thundershowers in the next two days. As you all may know and we told you before that till now more than 80 people are died in six states because of thunderstorm and lightning strikes.
