After US, Guatemala opens its embassy in Jerusalem

Guatemala is now the second country to move its Israeli embassy back to Jerusalem.

"It's not a coincidence that Guatemala is opening its embassy in Jerusalem right among the first".

And Al Jazeera reports Paraguay plans to move its embassy to Jerusalem by the end of May.

Turkey has expressed outrage over the killing by Israeli forces on Monday of 60 Palestinians during protests and clashes on the Gaza border and also blamed tensions on the United States decision to move its embassy for Israel to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.

The Palestinians said they consider the participation a "grave violation of worldwide law".

Guatemala is one of only a handful of nations that supported U.S. President Donald Trump's decision in December to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The Arab League and the French government called the embassy relocations illegal and a contravention of United Nations Security Council resolutions involving Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

Morales said Israel and Guatemala have a "deep friendship", hoping that other countries will follow the same move.
