The company hired Google's top AI exec, John Giannandrea, to lead Apple's artificial intelligence strategy, The New York Times reports.

Google plans to roll out its smart speakers, Google Home and Google Home Mini in India by the end of this month, which will compete against Amazon's Echo speakers.

Google Pixelbook, the premium laptop, and other intelligent home automation products such as doorbell, camera, alarm system, and smoke detector will also be launched in the Indian market in the next one year.

When it comes to hardware, Google has always been on the back seat. In any case, last week telecom examiner Sanjay Bafna tipped that Google Home and Home Mini speakers will start delivering in India beginning April 1 by means of Reliance Digital and Jio stores.

The company may also launch Google WiFi in the country. "Over the coming days, we will continue to provide support to help everyone in our Google family heal from this unimaginable tragedy". Reports have surfaced that the company is working on a mid-range Pixel, specifically made for emerging markets in South Asia. The company has also set aside huge funds for brand promotions of the upcoming phone, The Economic Times reported citing an unnamed executive.

In addition, playmaker Philippe Coutinho is ineligible after playing for Liverpool earlier in the competition. Messi has been left out of the starting line-up for five La Liga and Champions League games this year.

While at Google, Giannandrea oversaw the implementation of more AI-powered features for its Gmail, search engine, and virtual assistant offerings as the company began to market itself as an "AI-first" company. Currently Amazon's entire series of Echo devices is available in India.

As far as Amazon's launch is considered, it is sure to give tough competition and a run for its money to Google. Until now, Indians imported the Home smart devices. Google recently announced support for the Google Assistant in Hindi, and chances are that users will also be able to talk to the Google Home and Home Mini in Hindi, giving them commands in the local language.

The latest updated Alexa understands English in the Indian accent, but it still does not understand or speak Hindi.

The prices of the upcoming Google speakers are still not out yet. The new smart speakers from Google probably would be priced similarly to the echo range from Amazon.
