The first Google Chrome OS tablet takes aim at Apple's next iPads


Students can work precisely with interactive apps, sketch, take notes and capture ideas that can be shared with classmates and teachers. The tablet is also going to be released in the EMEA region in May for €329.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 features the same Chrome OS we've come to know and love, as well as Google Play support.

There were reports recently that the first Chrome OS-powered tablet could be launched soon and Acer has done just that today.

According to Google, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 is an education tablet that gives schools the easy management and shareability of Chromebook laptops.

That's not exactly on par with the double-digit run times we expect from Chromebooks, but impressive nonetheless given the tablet only weighs 1.21 pounds and measures just 0.39 inches thin. With a Chrome Education license, IT admins can make updates, configure apps, and manage extensions and policies. Like other Chromebooks today, it features 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage with a microSD card slot for expansion.

Other specs include 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, 2 megapixel front-facing camera, and 5 megapixel on the rear.

The Chromebook Tab 10 will have a 34Wh battery inside, charged via the USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 port, that Acer says will last 9 hours of use - basically a full school day.
