On Monday, Daniels offered to pay Trump $130,000 to buy her way out of the contract, "the latest jab" in a legal and public relations battle between Daniels, an adult film actress and director, and the president and his private attorney Michael Cohen, the Washington Post reported.
Daniels says she has to pay for attorney's fees, other costs related to the lawsuit and potential arbitration, security, and any damages she might have to pay if she speaks out and ends up losing the lawsuit.
Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, said his client takes that threat "very seriously".
On her crowdfunding site, Daniels said she wants to speak "honestly and openly to the American people" - and not just about her relationship with Trump.

Mr Cohen has admitted to paying Ms Daniels the $130,000, but maintains that Mr Trump had no idea that he transaction occurred.

Daniels has said she and Trump had an affair in 2006, and that they met at a celebrity golf tournament he was hosting in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
The lawsuit says that Daniels and Cohen both signed the agreement on the last days of the 2016 presidential election. Anthony Kotzev, the boyfriend of Stormy's manager, Gina Rodriguez, told the site that he was actually sitting next to Stormy when she physically signed her second statement denying that she was paid any "hush money", and he said the environment was extremely "lighthearted".
