The U.S. women lost to South Korea 9-6, but also take playoff hopes into their final match against Sweden.

"Awww @kirstiealley, we knew you'd come around!"

Because of tiebreakers, the USA women finished in the eighth position in the 10-team tournament.

All Canada needed to do Tuesday night was win to guarantee the No. 2 seed in the upcoming semifinals. They tapped their own stone on their second to last throw, setting up Shuster to land his final shot easily inside.

She later said she'd try to give curling another shot.

Great defense by the USA - in particular two hard takeouts with George's stones to remove Canadian rocks behind corner guards - led to Canada being forced into making a takeout to score just one point in the seventh end. "If you want to play anybody at the Olympics with medals on the line - it's Canada".

The two teams were tied at 3-3 through three ends when Korea took over. "I'm extremely proud of the way the team came together and played".

Great Britain answered the U.S.'s early double by scoring one point in three straight ends.

The U.S.is not full of particularly skilled shooters, it's last in the tournament in shooting, and Shuster is last among skips. "Curling is boring", she tweeted, just before she learned not to mess with the United States team. Its Olympic team, skipped by Kevin Koe, is ranked fourth in the world and was 4-2 heading into Monday's game.

"We know what we're capable of doing", Shuster said.

The U.S. was 2-4 and on the ropes before it started a three-game winning streak with a 9-7 victory over Canada in 11 ends on Monday.

The Americans finished tied with Great Britain and Switzerland at 5-4 in round-robin play, but the USA advanced to the semifinals based on head-to-head record while the other two teams will play in a tiebreaker on Thursday to determine the final playoff spot.

Canada scored three more in the fifth after Denmark's final shot was too light to get a takeout with Canada lying two. However, the win against Canada was a statement for Team USA, and a profound one at that.
