In honor of National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend, the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas will host the 3rd annual Thin Mint Sprint 5K.

This weekend, starting Friday, the Girl Scouts will be celebrating, learning leadership skills and selling cookies.

'[Potential cookie sale] sites are now all treated the same, and approval of those sites is contingent on whether they meet our guidelines and safety requirements, ' council spokesperson AnneMarie Harper told the Dever Post. "Safety is the biggest concern".

If you're not familiar with the American tradition of Girl Scout cookies - Girl Scouts in the United States have been selling specially-branded boxes of biscuits to friends, family and total strangers since 1917, to raise money for the organisation. Not only are you getting the cookies, but you are supporting everything that the Girl Scouts do all year long.

University review will not scrap tuition fees
Students from low-income backgrounds are now disproportionately affected by the current tuition fee structure in the UK.

Today we had Amanda Thomas, Vice President of Customer Support, and Virginia Villanueva, a girl scout in the fifth grade join us in the studio.

The purchase of every box will continue to benefit the Girl Scout's program. All proceeds stay in San Diego to fund local troop activities and service projects, events, camps, volunteer training and financial aid for more than 31,000 girl and adult members.

"We think the new policy empowers Scouts to be the best cookie entrepreneurs they can be", Ms Harper said.
