Joe Thornton's mountain-man beard was an early casualty Thursday night as the San Jose Sharks visited the Toronto Maple Leafs.

But what happened during the fight was truly unusual.

After the two players fell to the ice and were broken up by the linesmen, Kadri could be seen dropping a huge chunk of Thornton's beard on the ice.

John Williams to compose main theme for Hans Solo film
Variety is reporting that John Williams will compose the theme for the film, working with composer John Powell on the film. While Williams confirmed that, while he is composing the theme for Solo , Powell is scoring the rest of the movie .

As CBSSports.com notes, it appears both players were irritable even before the first puck was dropped.

Thornton didn't comment after the game.

Sharks backup goalie Aaron Dell used his glove to transport the hair back to the team's bench, a sight that didn't seem to faze any of his teammates.

"I didn't see that coming", said former Shark Patrick Marleau. They had plenty of jump against the talented Sharks in a wide-open, entertaining game that saw plenty of big saves at both ends.
