HBO Boss Talks Timetable For 'Game Of Thrones' Prequels & 'Confederate' Series


President Casey Bloys knows you are mad about the Game of Thrones delay, but he says it will be worth it the wait. Now, however, we know that season 8 won't come until 2019 which pushing back the earliest possible start date for the spinoff.

But while the first spinoff won't air until 2020, we'll likely get some clarity on which one (or two, or three) gets the greenlight before then.

At the time the new developments were announced HBO said they would "explore different time period of the vast and rich universe". "This story, A Song of Ice and Fire, is done". The one thing I will tell you, which we talked about before, any sort of pilot-to-series [order], there's not going to be anything on our air for a least a year after Game of Thrones airs.
